Omoto Denim 3121 15oz Ori-Sashi Sashiko Type 1 Jacket Indigo - size 40

US$550.00

Hiroki Kishimoto's decades of experience proprietary selvedge fabrics is one of Omoto's standout strengths, allowing them to offer an absurdly high-quality collection of fabrics, with Japanese sashiko being a definite standout. In addition to his 20+ years of experience producing selvedge denim, Kishimoto has also spent years helping some of Japan's most notable denim brands develop fabrics, including plenty of excellent sashiko and sashi-ori cloths.

This is Omoto's double-woven Ori-Sashi Sashiko fabric, weighing in at 15oz with a substantial heft that remains very comfortable with a thick, soft hand paired with plenty of complex sashiko texture. Sashi-ori is a thick, durable Japanese fabric that features a complex, intricate weave that gives the fabric a "stitched" texture, based on Japan's traditional sashiko stitching method. This is a double-weave fabric woven on vintage machines from indigo rope-dyed warp yarns and undyed weft yarns, giving the exterior a rich, pure-indigo hue that will fade and age spectacularly with time. Each finished Omoto piece represents the culmination of the skill and passion of the craftspeople of Japan's Sanbi region.

Cut in a classic Type 1 jacket style, this piece features a loose body with a shorter body length, for a traditional vintage workwear silhouette. Features a double knife-pleated chest with a single open chest pocket, hidden handwarmer pockets, and a rear size buckle, finished with copper rivets, a nickle buckle, and enamel-coated buttons.
